Bosch
1. Problem
1. An Alternative to Track the Location of Individuals
- similar tracking devices are expensive to utilise e.g. other firms utilizing GPS as their source for tracking
2. To Alleviate Concerns in Schools
- e.g. stealing being commonplace amongst adolescence, these deviant acts are often correlated with other anti-social behaviours and a range of mental health conditions (therefore, a need to track students' activities) - further, these issues have received relatively minimal attention when it comes to dealing with them (schools not doing enough to check on students)
2. Solution
Personal Personal Beacons
- these beacons send a signal to rPi every 5 minutes - Greater number of rPis located around means a greater degree of triangulation.
3. Unique Value Proposition
1. Affordability and Accessibility of Device
- less tedious compared to video cameras & storage of videos etc. - these GPS sensors are also more expensive and require more frequent charging
2. Custom-Made Product
- depending on the needs of the client, they can increase the number of rPis to get a more accurate triangulation. - we can adjust the frequency of requests in order to give more accurate/real time location - provide more rPis to enable a greater accuracy in certain regions. i.e. for regions with higher security/sensitive information, greater accuracy in location pinpoint
3. Low Number of Sensors Needed
- the maximum range of an eddystone beacon is 70m - we can make use of RSSI to detect how close the beacons are to the rPi, in order to triangulate the location of the user
4. Unfair Advantage
1. Bosch Cloud
- it allows for easier scaling/existing infrastructure that allows cheaper storage of information
5. Customer Segments
1. The Public Sector
- niche market for now (expanding to other sectors later on) - revolving around the government, parents and students in primary and secondary school tiers
2. Global Markets and Long-Term Expansion
a) Hospitals/Elderly Homes: - Allows hospitals and elderly to track "at-risk" or disabled individuals - Enable geofencing, which would allow for clients to track if individuals leave the designated area b) Security Systems: - geofencing to allow security companies to track visitors in secure compounds (i.e. company offices and warehouses) - increase ability to recognize and locate once-off individuals for evacuation purposes
6. Key Metrics
1. Accuracy of Detection
- detecting up to a certain m/ft
2. The Frequency of Sending Out Requests from the Beacon
7. Channels
1. Partner Channels
- working with a few neighbourhood schools before venturing out and collaborating with other primary/secondary schools (through the local government) - this expansion may help us to reach out to other institutions as well e.g. hospitals, nurseries - managing these relationships could be time consuming but it is more affordable than the direct approach - with an established market and partner presence, we can achieve higher loyalty and engagement (along with greater consistency and predictability of the interactions among our channels)
8. Cost Structure
1. Bosch
- the cost of storing the data in the cloud
2. Clients
- charging a fee to access Bosch Cloud - our individual beacons - and also the Raspberry Pi to receive bluetooth from the various beacons
9. Revenue Stream
1. Bosch
- subscription to Bosch Cloud (daily/monthly) - customer acquisition, which increases likelihood of clients utilizing the other features of Bosch Cloud
2. Government and Other Public Institutions
- receive potential funding from government and schools (public network) for future projects if program succeeds
10. Brainstorming Space
1. Alternative Company Product
- firm that is also currently doing it? Power-tagshttp://www.power-tags.com/ - can think of improvements or cons of their current service
2. Privacy, Ethics and Regulations
- have to understand that as like any other electronic device, it involves the use of personal data - in our local context, Singapore is protected under the Personal Data Protection Act 2012 (PDPA) - have to comply with the PDPA as well as other relevant laws when handling our consumers' personal data
3. Other Things to Note
- getting consent from our consumers and partners - stating the purpose and true intentions of our business - explain reasonableness of the use of product - e.g. parents as the most crucial group in determining the approval of the program/discipline master or principals as the only personnels who will hold all data
4. Ability to Scale to Different Countries
- e.g. in the US/EU markets location, there are privacy issues (Japan/China and their (location privacy laws), EU's GDPR and the USA's GPS Law - for the case of security/ hospitals, consent would be easily obtained - contract has to explain that location information acquired would be solely for the company's purposes (will not be shared with other individuals/companies)
